Líneas de investigación  

Estudio de la función del polipéptido sistemina y de su precursor, prosistemina, en la regulación de respuestas defensivas generadas ante herbivoría y daño mecánico, y su utilización en al generación de plantas transgénicas resistentes a insectos. Estudio (en campo e invernadero) de la función de evocadores abióticos, como ácido jasmónico, cis-jasmonato y ácido ß-aminobutírico en la inducción de resistencia contra insectos y patógenos en papa (Solanum tuberosum), y en amaranto (Amaranthus hypochondriacus). Estudio de la función de compuestos volátiles en interacciones tritróficas integradas por la planta huésped, el insecto herbívoro y el(los) insecto(s) parásito(s) o depredador(es) o en la comunicación planta-planta. Estudio de la contribución de los compuestos volátiles en los mecanismos de atracción involucrados en el control biológico de plagas de interés, como la mosquita blanca en plantas de chile (Capsicum annuum L.). Estudio de la función del polipéptido sistemina en la simbiosis micorrícica en plantas de jitomate (Solanum lycopersicum). Estudio de la posible función de polipéptidos bioactivos en la regulación de respuestas defensivas sistémicas inducidas por rizobacterias promotoras del crecimiento. Mecanismos de resistencia y tolerancia a insectos y patógenos en amaranto (Amaranthus hypochondriacus, A. caudatus y A. cruentus). Identificación y caracterización de genes de amaranto relacionados con estrés biótico y abiótico.
